Staff Machine Learning Engineer
$300,000 + $800,000 (4-year vesting + refreshers)

About the Role:
Are you a seasoned Machine Learning Engineer ready to build cutting-edge ML models in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? This role is for a Senior ML Engineer to join an elite team of 15 MLEs at a high-growth, Series E unicorn company. The position involves transforming innovative ideas into impactful production models, addressing complex business problems, and driving substantial value. The team works on-site from Tuesday to Thursday to maximize collaboration. Projects span critical areas such as recommendation systems, predictive analytics, ranking algorithms, and optimization of customer lifetime value (LTV).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop customer-centric machine learning models from the ground up.
- Lead and execute end-to-end machine learning projects, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into production systems.
- Utilize advanced ML and data analysis tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, xgboost, pandas, matplotlib, SQL, and Spark.
- Apply expertise in Python to create robust and scalable ML solutions.
- Drive innovation by staying abreast of the latest machine learning and AI technologies developments.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience building complex machine learning systems.
- Proven track record of developing scalable, efficient, and automated ML processes.
- Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks and data analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Python and its ecosystem.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional ML projects.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.
Technical Stack:
- Infrastructure: Built on Kubernetes, running in AWS's EKS environment. Managed with Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm.
- Backend: Java/Spring Boot microservices, integrated with DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis on AWS.
- Frontend: React and TypeScript with GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright.
- Automation: Custom and open-source machine learning models, processing large datasets with Python, Metaflow, Hugging Face, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas.
