Join a growing team that’s reshaping how direct mail is done. This company helps DTC brands drive revenue by making postcards smart—personalized, timely, and targeted using data science. They’re now hiring a senior or lead-level IC data scientist to own development of the core targeting engine used by hundreds of brands.
This is a high-impact, greenfield opportunity to replace a brittle legacy model with something smart, scalable, and powerful. You’ll collaborate with data engineering, define modeling strategy, and drive your own roadmap. The mandate: don’t just find obvious patterns—identify unexpected high-intent customers that would otherwise be missed.
What You’ll Do
- Own model development end-to-end, from conception through production deployment
- Build models that identify high-value customers at the individual level
- Collaborate with engineering to ship reliable, performant code
- Evaluate model performance continuously and improve iteratively
- Operate autonomously and defend technical choices clearly and rigorously
What You Bring
- PhD in statistics, economics, or a related field strongly preferred
- Experience building uplift, attribution, or identity-level targeting models
- Proven ability to work in messy data environments with real-world constraints
- Strong Python skills and Git discipline
- At least one deployed ML model in a production setting
- Clear communication, intellectual rigor, and ownership mindset
Workflow & Collaboration Environment
You’ll report into a data platform team that includes both data engineers and scientists. Engineering is tightly integrated with product. Expect regular syncs, a strong feedback loop, and close relationships with marketing and product leadership.
