AI for real-world service operations
We are hiring a Senior Data Scientist for a high growth software company building modern products for a large, operationally complex industry. This is a chance to join early in the buildout of a data and AI function that will shape how intelligence gets embedded across the platform.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the full lifecycle of applied data science. You will move from problem framing and exploratory analysis through feature engineering, modeling, experimentation, and production deployment. The environment suits someone who is commercially minded, technically strong, and comfortable operating with a high level of ownership.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work on a wide range of applied data science problems tied to real operational workflows and customer outcomes. That includes:
• designing, building, and shipping models across regression, classification, clustering, ranking, and recommendation use cases
• partnering with product and engineering teams to turn ambiguous business questions into well-scoped data science projects
• carrying out exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
• defining model success metrics, running experiments, and improving performance based on real-world feedback
• helping develop analytical products that surface useful insights for internal teams and end users
• contributing to NLP and LLM related initiatives where appropriate, while staying grounded in strong data science fundamentals
What they’re looking for
• strong applied data science fundamentals across analysis, experimentation, prediction, classification, clustering, and model evaluation
• experience taking models and analyses into production, not just building proofs of concept or notebooks
• strong Python and SQL skills
• around 5+ years of industry experience in applied data science, with advanced degrees considered where relevant
• ability to work closely with business stakeholders and translate practical problems into data science solutions
• strong communication skills and comfort working cross functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams
Nice to have
• experience with recommendation systems, experimentation, or causal inference
• familiarity with LLM and NLP tooling
• exposure to MLOps concepts and modern cloud environments
• startup experience or experience working in fast-moving product teams
Tech Stack & Environment
This team works in a modern product and engineering environment with Python, SQL, cloud infrastructure, production data systems, and close collaboration between data science, ML engineering, and product teams. The role is best suited to someone who enjoys broad scope, messy real-world data, and building practical systems that need to scale.
Why this role stands out
This is not a narrow research role and it is not an API wrapper position dressed up as AI. It is a chance to help build the data science foundation for a company with meaningful scale, strong proprietary data, and a real opportunity to create customer-facing impact. You’ll be joining early enough to influence how the function evolves, while still working on problems that are already grounded in production needs.
