The Role
As Machine Learning Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of ~5 ML engineers to design, build, and deploy GenAI-powered features at scale. You’ll be the technical and people leader driving initiatives that integrate LLMs and other AI techniques into core product workflows. This role combines strategy, execution, and mentorship—perfect for a strong IC-turned-leader who still enjoys technical problem solving.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and mentoring the ML engineering team, driving both delivery and career growth
- Defining technical direction for GenAI product features (prompting, evals, quality metrics)
- Partnering with product and design to shape the AI roadmap and ensure alignment with customer needs
- Overseeing end-to-end implementation of ML features from prototyping to production
- Establishing frameworks for model evaluation, monitoring, and iteration
- Growing the team by hiring top-tier ML talent and refining onboarding processes
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years in applied ML, including 2+ years leading teams or technical projects
- Strong LLM/NLP experience and a track record of shipping GenAI features to production
- Proficiency in Python and modern ML libraries
- Ability to design eval frameworks and iterate on model performance in real-world settings
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Tech Stack & Environment
Python-based ML pipelines, leveraging APIs from OpenAI, Claude, and open-source LLMs. The team emphasizes rapid experimentation, prompt engineering, and robust eval frameworks. Future work may involve fine-tuning and custom training as the AI roadmap expands.
