Lead DevOps Engineer – $175K + Equity – Remote (US)
We're working with a well-funded, fast-growing SaaS company that’s rebuilding its infrastructure from the ground up. They’ve hit product-market fit and are investing heavily in platform modernization, with strong backing from one of the world’s leading private equity firms. This is a fully remote, high-ownership role for a senior DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer who wants to shape infrastructure strategy at scale.
The Opportunity
As Lead DevOps Engineer, you'll join a small, collaborative platform team responsible for re-architecting the core infrastructure behind a mission-critical B2B platform used by thousands of enterprise customers globally. This is a rare chance to drive greenfield projects, introduce modern DevOps tooling, and influence best practices across engineering.
You’ll play a key role in:
- Migrating legacy EC2 workloads to containers (ECS and EKS)
- Simplifying and scaling Terraform infrastructure using Workspaces
- Leading a CI/CD overhaul from Jenkins to GitHub Actions
- Defining patterns for observability, reliability, and on-call operations
- Partnering with InfoSec to support SOC2 compliance and cloud security
- Working closely with engineering to containerize monolithic apps and set a new standard for infrastructure quality
Tech Stack
- AWS (EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch)
- Terraform (Workspaces), Chef, Jenkins, GitHub Actions
- Monitoring: Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana
- Languages: Bash, Python, Ruby, Java
- Databases: MongoDB (migration in progress)
Who You Are
You're a seasoned infrastructure or platform engineer who thrives in ambiguity and builds for scale. You’ve been in the trenches of AWS, built infra-as-code with Terraform, and have opinions about CI/CD done right. You're comfortable owning systems end-to-end and enjoy working across product, engineering, and security to deliver clean, reliable DevOps solutions.
Must-haves:
- Deep experience with AWS (EC2, IAM, VPC, etc.)
- Strong Terraform skills with recent hands-on usage
- CI/CD experience (preferably Jenkins and GitHub Actions)
- System administration experience on Linux (EC2)
- Scripting in Bash and/or Python
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes)
- Experience managing incidents, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements
Compensation
- Base salary: $175,000
- Equity: Generous private-equity-backed package with strong upside
- Bonus: 5%
- Remote: Fully remote within the U.S.
