The platform has meaningful scale and a deep corpus of unstructured documents and project data that lend themselves to applied AI.
Why this role
You will own high-impact AI systems that ship to customers. This includes improving matching and recommendations across a multi-sided network, building document understanding and RAG pipelines over long technical specs, and establishing strong AIOps/MLOps practices.
What you will do
- Take ownership of an existing matching and recommendations service and raise precision, coverage, latency, and cost efficiency
- Build production AI features that help users evaluate projects and bids using retrieval, ranking, and LLMs where appropriate
- Stand up evaluations, guardrails, and CI/CD for ML and LLM features, including drift, safety, and cost monitoring
- Prototype quickly, then harden what works into reliable services on AWS
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Customer teams to validate problem–solution fit and tie outcomes to business KPIs
What you bring
- Track record shipping production AI systems used by customers, not just prototypes
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: Python, FastAPI or similar, containers, microservices, and CI/CD
- Evaluation mindset: offline and online metrics, A/B thinking, error analysis, and objective definitions of “good”
- Applied RAG experience beyond chatbots: embeddings choice, chunking strategies, re-ranking, retrieval quality, cost and latency trade-offs
- Guardrails and safety practices against prompt injection, sensitive data leakage, and hallucinations
- Experience on AWS services for AI workloads
Nice to have
- Graph-based RAG or knowledge graphs (Neo4j or equivalent)
- Vertical agent workflows in production
- OCR or computer vision for drawings or blueprints
- Experience in a multi-sided marketplace or networked platform
Compensation and benefits
- Target base salary up to 220,000 USD depending on experience, with bonus potential
