An early-stage AI company is building technology to make housing and building development more sustainable, efficient, and equitable. Its interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and domain experts is developing an AI platform to solve complex problems across the built environment.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to help build a production AI platform from the ground up and influence its backend, data, and deployment foundations. You will own meaningful technical capabilities end to end, from initial prototype through production deployment.
The Role
You will work across backend engineering and data engineering, building services and pipelines that support inference, optimization, machine learning models, and complex multimodal data. The role suits an engineer who enjoys broad ownership, rapidly evolving requirements, and close collaboration with AI, product, science, and domain teams.
What You’ll Do
Design and implement robust, production-level backend software for a SaaS platform.
Build services that support inference, optimization, and other complex AI-driven capabilities.
Develop scalable representations and schemas for complex data types.
Build data orchestration pipelines for geospatial, regulatory, and multimodal data.
Partner with AI engineers to deploy machine learning models and AI services reliably.
Create scalable and reproducible deployment workflows.
Own new capabilities from early prototype through production release.
What You’ll Bring
At least five years of experience building large, complex software systems or applications.
Strong Python development skills.
Experience designing and delivering production-quality backend software.
Experience working with messy, complex datasets.
Practical experience building data orchestration pipelines.
Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working across multiple technical areas.
The ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, scientists, domain experts, and product managers.
What This Role Requires
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
Five or more years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong Python development capability.
Experience building complex production systems and data orchestration workflows.
