MTS – Product (Member of Technical Staff)
(Applied AI, Agentic Systems & Product Engineering)
Compensation: Competitive base salary + equity
Location: New York City – Onsite, 5 days per week
The Company
A well-funded, high-growth applied AI company is building intelligent agents that perform complex, document-heavy accounting and financial workflows. Rather than adding AI features to traditional software, the business is developing autonomous systems that complete meaningful work and allow professionals to focus on judgment, exceptions, and higher-value activities.
The company is scaling quickly, with a growing engineering organisation and an ambitious product roadmap.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a team rethinking how software is built and what individual engineers can own in an AI-native organisation.
You'll have exceptional autonomy, working on products where AI agents perform real customer work in production. The business is looking for engineers who combine strong technical fundamentals, product judgment, and the ambition to solve problems that traditionally required entire engineering teams.
The Role
As an MTS – Product engineer, you'll own complex product problems from initial customer discovery through implementation, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
You'll work across the full stack, building interfaces, APIs, workflows, and AI agents that deliver tangible outcomes for customers. This is a hands-on product engineering position where understanding the business problem is just as important as writing excellent software.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end product development, from understanding customer needs and defining scope to building, shipping, and maintaining production systems.
Build AI-native applications that automate complex, multi-step workflows and support human review where judgment is required.
Develop across the full stack, including user interfaces, APIs, data models, application logic, and agent-powered functionality.
Partner with product managers, designers, and domain experts to translate ambiguous customer problems into intuitive, practical solutions.
Design reliable agent experiences, including context management, evaluations, exception handling, review controls, and feedback loops.
Improve products after launch, using customer feedback, instrumentation, and production performance to increase adoption, reliability, completion speed, and efficiency.
Leverage modern AI development tools to accelerate delivery while making thoughtful decisions about architecture, usability, and technical quality.
What You'll Bring
Significant professional software engineering experience, ideally 7+ years, with a track record of independently delivering substantial products.
Strong full-stack engineering capabilities and the ability to make sound decisions across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and system architecture.
Excellent product judgment, with a clear understanding of what makes complex software intuitive, dependable, and valuable to customers.
Experience operating in high-ownership environments, ideally within scaling startups or technically demanding B2B software companies.
Evidence of working closely with customers or product stakeholders to shape requirements, challenge assumptions, and improve outcomes.
Genuine enthusiasm for AI agents, AI-assisted engineering, and the opportunity to build a new generation of intelligent products. Previous experience developing agentic applications is highly desirable.
What This Role Requires
End-to-end product ownership: Demonstrable experience taking complex software from an unclear initial problem through development, launch, and production iteration.
Strong engineering fundamentals: Ability to work independently across multiple parts of the application stack and make sensible technical tradeoffs.
Product and customer understanding: Confidence navigating ambiguity, understanding real user workflows, and making decisions that balance speed, reliability, and usability.
Commitment to the working model: Willingness to work onsite in New York City five days per week and embrace AI-assisted development as a core part of the engineering process.
Tech Stack
The role spans several technical areas:
Full-stack product engineering: user interfaces, APIs, backend services, and data models.
Applied AI and agentic systems: agent behaviour, context management, workflow execution, and evaluations.
Production engineering: testing, instrumentation, reliability, performance, and failure handling.
Specific programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure will be discussed during the process.
Why Join
Exceptional autonomy and impact. Own meaningful product areas and solve problems that would traditionally be distributed across larger teams. Your engineering decisions will directly influence customer outcomes and product direction.
Build at the frontier of applied AI. Work on autonomous systems that execute complex real-world tasks, rather than incremental AI features or experimental prototypes.
Join at a pivotal growth stage. Help shape the engineering culture and the future of AI-native product development within a rapidly expanding, well-capitalized technology company, with meaningful equity participation.
