Lead Product Designer
(Healthcare Technology | AI-First Design | Founding Design Hire)
Compensation: $145,000 - $160,000 + Bonus
Location: Fully Remote – United States
The Company
A venture-backed healthcare technology company is building an intelligent platform that helps independent care providers launch, operate and grow their businesses. Its technology brings together complex administrative, financial and operational workflows, reducing manual work and giving clinicians more time to focus on delivering care.
With growing adoption and ambitious expansion plans, the company is investing in the product experience required to support its next stage of growth.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to become the first dedicated Product Designer at a scaling healthcare technology company, with genuine ownership of the design function and a direct influence on product strategy.
You'll work on complex, high-impact product challenges, establishing the foundations for design while shaping the tools that providers, families and operational teams rely on every day.
The Role
We're looking for a Lead Product Designer who can operate across the entire design spectrum, from high-level service design and workflow architecture through to polished interfaces, prototypes and shipped product experiences.
You'll work closely with Product and Engineering, use AI-assisted tools to accelerate your workflow and turn complicated operational problems into intuitive, scalable software.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end product design across provider-facing, family-facing and internal operational experiences, from initial discovery through production and iteration.
Simplify complex workflows involving billing, insurance, service delivery and business operations, creating intuitive experiences that reduce administrative burden.
Lead user research and service design, mapping stakeholders, user journeys, system interactions, operational dependencies and exception paths.
Design and prototype product experiences, producing clear user flows, information architecture, high-fidelity interfaces and interactive prototypes using modern AI-assisted tools.
Establish the design system, creating reusable components, interaction patterns and standards that improve consistency, usability and engineering efficiency.
Partner directly with Product, Engineering and operational stakeholders to translate ambiguous requirements into practical solutions, validate designs and remain involved through implementation.
What You'll Bring
Lead-level product design experience, with a track record of taking complex software products from discovery through launch.
A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX/UI craft, systems thinking, service design and the ability to simplify sophisticated workflows.
Experience designing workflow-heavy, data-rich or operationally complex software involving multiple users, roles or interconnected systems.
Practical experience using AI-assisted design and prototyping tools to move quickly from concepts to tangible product experiences.
Strong product judgment and the ability to identify root problems, challenge assumptions and balance user needs with operational and technical constraints.
An independent, hands-on approach, with excellent communication skills and the confidence to work directly with users, engineers and business stakeholders.
What This Role Requires
End-to-end product design ownership: You must be capable of independently leading research, UX, interaction design, visual design, prototyping and implementation collaboration.
Demonstrable complex-workflow experience: Your portfolio must show how you've simplified sophisticated products, processes or service experiences, not just created visually attractive interfaces.
Strong hands-on design capability: You need to be equally comfortable solving broad experience-design challenges and delivering detailed, production-ready interfaces.
AI-first working practices: You should be confident using AI-assisted design and prototyping tools and comfortable operating in an environment where Product, Design and Engineering collaborate closely.
Healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential. This is a product design position rather than a design engineering role, so proficiency in React or TypeScript is not a requirement.
Tech Stack
AI-assisted design and prototyping: Modern AI tools for exploration, rapid iteration and functional prototypes.
Design disciplines: Service blueprinting, workflow mapping, information architecture, interaction design and design systems.
Engineering environment: React and TypeScript-based product development, with close collaboration between Design and Engineering.
Specific design tooling and workflows will be discussed during the interview process.
Why Join
Own design from day one: Join as the first dedicated designer, define the design standards and influence the product experience across the business.
Solve meaningful, complex problems: Work at the intersection of healthcare, software, service design and intelligent automation, where intuitive products can make a measurable difference.
Build during a significant growth phase: Join a venture-backed company with established market traction, direct access to product leadership and the opportunity to shape a product and design function as the business scales.
