We are partnering with a Series A AI startup developing a platform that helps experts make evidence-based decisions from complex technical information. The product enables users in research-driven industries to analyze data faster, evaluate it more rigorously, and communicate insights with clarity.
The company has reached multi-million ARR and a large organic user base, supported by top-tier investors. The team brings deep machine learning expertise together with a focus on building transparent, reliable AI systems. They are now expanding their core ML group to support new capabilities and scale.
The Role
As a senior or staff-level Machine Learning Research Engineer, you will design and implement systems that combine large language models, structured reasoning, and evaluation frameworks at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building multi-step LLM pipelines to solve complex reasoning problems
- Curating and fine-tuning datasets for domain-specific model behavior
- Developing evaluation metrics that capture both performance and reliability
- Scaling semantic retrieval and search pipelines to large datasets
- Collaborating with product and research teams to prototype, test, and iterate
This is a senior individual contributor position with broad ownership and strong cross-functional collaboration.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience designing, training, or fine-tuning language model based systems
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and familiarity with scalable infrastructure
- A creative, product-focused mindset and comfort working from ambiguous problem statements
- Experience in startups or applied research environments
- Interest in model interpretability, evaluation design, and emerging ML architectures
